New Funeral Planning Documents

The Catholic Cemeteries is pleased to offer two new tools to assist people with planning funeral and burial arrangements.

The Planning a Catholic Funeral document provides helpful information surrounding the various rites associated with a Catholic funeral, including the Vigil, funeral Mass and interment, as well as helpful information surrounding eulogies. This document is available on the Planning page of our website.

The Diocese of Hamilton's Policy Regarding the Disposition of Cremated Remains is a statement from Bishop Douglas Crosby, OMI, Bishop of Hamilton, which outlines some highlights of the universal Church's position on cremation, particularly in offering the same reverence to cremated remains as that of the body of the deceased person. This document is available on the Cremation page of our website.

Monthly Memorial Mass

The next Monthly Memorial Mass will take place in Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, on Tuesday, January 13 at 4:30 pm.

New Section Open at Holy Redeemer Cemetery

A new section dedicated to Saint Alojzije Stepinac for members of the Queen of Peace Croatian Franciscan Centre in Norval is now open in Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Georgetown.  Single or family lots as well as above-ground lawn crypts are available.  For more information, please click here.

Mausoleum Expansion at Marymount Cemetery

Winter Wreaths

Families are reminded that winter wreaths on stands are permitted between November 1st and April 1st each year.  Please note The Catholic Cemeteries will be discontinuing its wreath sales program after this year.  Families wishing to purchase a wreath this year are encouraged to contact us early to ensure availability of their desired wreath.

Word on Fire on FaithFM

The Catholic Cemeteries is the proud sponsor of Fr. Robert Barron's Word on Fire broadcasts on Kitchener's FaithFM 94.3, Thursday evenings at 8:30 pm. The broadcast can also be streamed live at www.kitchener.faithfm.org.

Each program presents compelling Catholic preaching that is an instrument of outreach, evangelization and conversion. Touching upon art, architecture, poetry, philosophy, theology and the lives of the saints, Fr. Barron boldly proclaims Jesus Christ in outstanding sermons based on each Sunday's upcoming gospel.

The Catholic Cemeteries release new videos – July 10, 2013

The Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of Hamilton is pleased to introduce four new videos, produced to provide information about some of our properties’ burial options and services.

The two-minute videos feature Our Lady of Hope Mausoleum at Resurrection Cemetery in Ancaster;Our Lady of the Angels Mausoleum at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery in upper Stoney Creek Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Burlington; and Holy Cross Catholic Cremation Centre located at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brantford. The mausoleum videos are available both in English and Italian.

The videos are intended to help educate viewers about what we offer, provide answers to frequently asked questions and showcase the dignified and beautiful resting places we offer Catholics and their families in the communities we serve.

Ongoing Events

Memorial Masses

These Masses are held the second Tuesday of every month at 4:30 pm at Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum on Plains Road. The names of all those interred at one of the Hamilton/Burlington Catholic Cemeteries within the previous month are available to be read in the Book of Life, and will be read aloud. The next-of-kin receive an invitation in the mail and all family and friends are welcome to attend.

Free Cemetery Tours

The Catholic Cemeteries offers free walking and bus tours of our Catholic cemeteries. Tours of Holy Sepulchre and Gate of Heaven cemeteries in Burlington and our Brantford-area cemeteries are held regularly. Cemetery tours are a fun and informal way to learn about the history of our cemeteries, and how we develop new cemeteries.
