Our Lady of Victory MausoleumFamily Stories
Vince Garzo and his sisters Donna Walton, Maria Smith and Josey Smith were as close as siblings can be, but they never talked about their own burial arrangements. Not until Donna was dying of breast cancer in 2010 did the subject arise.
“Donna said, two days before she passed away, ‘Vince, promise me we’ll all be together, and we’ll be with dad,’ ” Vince recalls. “I said, ‘I don’t care what it takes, I’m going to get it done.’ It gave our sister some peace before she passed away.”
Now the remaining Garzo siblings themselves have peace of mind knowing they will all rest next to each other, with their respective spouses, in double cremation niches at Our Lady of Victory mausoleum at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. “We’re always together now and it was important to us that we end up being in the same spot.”
Vince’s father’s crypt is around the corner and other family members have pre-purchased space nearby. His grandmother is buried in a ground lot in Holy Sepulchre. “It’s a family tradition to be at Holy Sepulchre and has always been part of our life to go out there.”
